The RepRap Project is an open-source project aimed at creating a partially self-replicating machine which can be used for rapid prototyping and manufacturing (Wikipedia article).

The fabrication technology employed by the RepRap project is fused deposition of polycaprolactone or similar very-low melting point plastics.
